Notes from Ben Laurin to prepare for this weekend’s 2026 Chubascos HB Bodysurfing and Handplaning Championships.

Here are a few important details and updates for this year’s event:

• Location & Start Time: We are hosting the contest on the Southside of the Huntington Beach Pier. We will be starting promptly at 7:30 AM, which is slightly earlier than usual, so please plan accordingly.

• Heat Progressions: Heat progressions have been slightly changed this year. Please inquire when checking in for your heat for more details.

• Food & Drinks: Coffee and donuts will be served each morning. Lunch will feature pizza and cold soda pop each day.

• Volunteer Help: Any help carrying supplies on Friday around noon and after the contest on Sunday would be greatly appreciated!

• Conditions & Surf Report: The water is warm at 70 degrees, and surf will be slowly building all weekend.
